By hand tools, this means not powered by electricity. As an example the first item here is a set of new Klein Tree Climbers or gaffs. 

This is a brand new in the box set of Klein Professional Tree Climbers. There is a four page instructional paper which you can see in the photograph which tells all about adjustments, sharpening the gaffs etc.

These climbers retail for $174.00 and a complete set with pads plus tax is over $250.00.   A replacement set of gaffs alone are $75.00 a pair. These climbers have no straps but I am encluding a pair of pads.
