 Holan Bucket Truck

You are looking at some photos that were taken several years ago.  We were using the Holan Bucket truck on a job and one of the hydralic lines to the bucket broke. I had some very inexperienced men on the crew at that time and the long and short of it was that the hydralic fluid leaked over an asphalt drive which cost a lot to fix. At the same time enough hydralic fuel leaked that the bucket could not be lowered.

I had the truck maintenance company that had taken care of the truck come to the site, lower the boom and take ithe truck back to their shop for repairs. I said, “When you are finished please come back and give this crew some lessons on how to use this vehicle and maintain the truck and the hydralics.”

That never happened so we just parked the truck after the repairs were made. Since our primary business was in residential back yards, this was a pretty big truck and most of climbing was in areas that the bucket could not go. In additions, we never specialized in removals so handling heavy wood was not something we did every day. We had other equipment that could move wood around for us. The truck has not run for about six years but was in excellent shape back then. The fact that propane is so clean and does not deteriorate, this truck still starts and runs. If you are interested in discussing details call me to talk about it. 704-618-6214

We had the truck converted to propane back whene we were using it, so it is cleaner running and engine maintenance is considerably less. Back then propane was as expensive as gas, but now it is a lot cheaper. The cost to convert gas to propane now is much more expensive than when we had the work done.

One of the other plusses for the truck is that it is “Material Handler” which means it can lift a 5000 pound block of wood off the back of the boom. This is one of the features we used it for when we needed to lift heavy logs onto another truck.

There is also a large winch on the front that we never hooked up and used. I do not recall if it worked or not.

I think this truck will work very well for the small tree company that does not want to tie a fortune up in a bucket and is not concerned that the age shows. There are no major dings or breaks in the truck.

The specs are as follows:

Holan:  1974 50 Foot, Material Handler, Serial number on bucket is 72-006-89413, wattanty registration number is 89220.

Boom Height: is 50 feet.
